Castleblayney Hurling’s Family Fortunes Event – a laugh from beginning to end…..
Iontas was alive & buzzing on Saturday evening as Castleblayney Hurling Club hosted their Family Fortunes event. Hard to put words on the atmosphere of simple fun, laughter & craic on the night, as our fourteen teams vied with each other to get to grips with the intricacies of the game! Like all these shows, they look easy when you’re on the couch!
The show was superbly hosted by Mel Gribben of Family Fortunes who kept the show rolling along in her easy professional manner, ably assisted by her co-host, David Connolly, who had ‘dressed up’ for the occasion & had brought along his arsenal of one-liners & quick repartee. The Final saw The Crafty Cartel team outwit I Play County team with the former being crowned the Family Fortunes Champions!
Suffice to say, everyone went home with a smile on their face & that feel-good factor from having enjoyed a good night out. Under the frivolity of it all, permeated a sense of community spirit, belonging & togetherness…as the saying goes…it takes a village….I think the club has found its village!
None of this would have been possible without so many people….
Sponsors
Thank you to all the businesses, local & otherwise, & to the many individuals who put their hands deep in their pockets & gave so generously. Don’t ever underestimate the importance of your contributions to us, without it, so many things would be left undone. We must, once again, mention the continuing contribution & sponsorship of Pete McMahon, Centra & Supervalu. We are deeply indebted to you all.

Teams
We had 14 teams of four who ‘volunteered’ or were volunteered for the unenviable task of raising money for their team & then having to participate on stage, to boot. You were all superheroes on the night, with your willingness to join in the fun. Special word of thanks to our Mystery Team who were super fun. We appreciate every teams’ efforts & enjoyed watching the race to the top of the leaderboard. If you haven’t yet donated, the link is still there & will remain open for a week or so https://www.idonate.ie/event/CHC
