Condolences to one of our loyal supporters, PJ Harte on the passing of his father-in-law, Oliver Mee, Cootehill. Ar DheisD é go raibh a anam.

Hugh McKenna RIP Castleblayney Hurling extends our deepest sympathy to the family of Hugh McKenna, one of our founding members of the reformed club in 1954. The founding Committee was celebrated & acknowledged last March at our 70th Celebratory dinner dance but unfortunately Hugh was not in a position to travel from his home in Tralee.

Hugh served on the HC committee in 1954 and 1955. He was a right half back in the 1955 championship winning team and was goalkeeper for the 1956 final, the 1957 final win, the 1958 and 1959 championship wins and Mid Ulster League wins in 1958 and 1959. He was county sub keeper in 1957.

Hugh was a man for the stage and acted as compere of the Down Express at the Lyric Theatre in 1958 and many other shows, dinner dances, fundraisers etc. He was also a member of the Emmett Céilí Band. Hugh emigrated to England in September 1960, before returning to Dublin and now Tralee. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.

Gaeltacht Scholarship If your son/daughter has secured a place on a Gaeltacht course this summer & are a registered member of the club then they should consider applying for a Gaeltacht Scholarship. Contact the club’s Cultural Officer, David Connolly or get an application form at the link:
