Dinner Dance in the Glencarn Hotel on last Saturday night was a fantastic evening, celebrating the Ulster Junior Club Champions 2023 while remembering & acknowledging the 1954 Founding Committee. Senior Manager, Kevin Moloney acted as MC for the evening, with David Connolly conducting the Commemoration of the 1954 team, while Chairman Paddy McArdle extended a warm welcome to us all, but in particular to our invited guests who included Leas Uachtarán Chomhairle Uladh, Michael Geoghegan & Chairman of Monaghan County Board, Declan Flanagan. Our guests of honour were family members of the founding committee, some of whom were represented by their great grandchildren now playing with the juveniles of the club, linking past, present & future. Each family were presented with a commemorative plaque to mark their relative’s involvement with the club. For more details on the founding committee & pictures visit our website, castleblayneyhurling.gaa.ie. Finalising the formal proceedings of the evening, chairman Paddy McArdle thanked the organising committee, David Connolly for the commemoration of the Founding Committee, Glenn Murphy photography, Damian Borden & the Glencarn for a super meal, Crafty Owl Productions for the plaques, & Mickey McHugh for the music. Special mention was made of Sheila Forde, former club secretary, for her dedication & commitment to the club & presenting her with a bouquet of flowers, it was remarked that Sheila was staying with the club in a different role. The music & dancing continued long in to the night.
